Gospel of Judas in the News

There have been a number of newpaper articles covering the publication of the Gospel of Judas. I found this one from the Telegraph helpful, particularly the quote from Dr. Simon Gathercole from Aberdeen University:

It is certainly an ancient text, but not ancient enough to tell us anything new. It contains themes which are alien to the first-century world of Jesus and Judas, but which became popular later. An analogy would be finding a speech said to have been written by Queen Victoria, in which she talked about her CDs.

Why BiblicalStudies.org.uk is not "pay per view"

I learned today that one of my wife's favourite websites www.fixtureferrets.co.uk is making the majority of its features "pay per view". I will not comment on whether this a good thing for the Internet in general. After all people put hard work into their websites and deserve some return. However, I am determined not to introduce this feature on my sites because it would immediately block them from those whom I wish to use them the most: Christians in the developing world.

This does not mean that my site does not need money to keep it going. The bandwidth for March was 6.3 GB, and there is the occasional expense of new books and other resources to buy to add to the bibliographies. But please do not mistake what I am saying as an appeal for cash, because there is a way in which those who which to keep the site going can help without sending me a penny. The site contains numerous links to Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Christian Book Distributors. When you wish to purchase from any of these companies simply click through these links before placing your order and the site will receive the commission. Many thanks.

A big "Thank You!" to all my visitors and supporters

I am delighted to say that after five years unique visitor numbers to www.biblicalstudies.org.uk have exceeded 31,800 in one month for the first time. More significant than this figure to me is the fact that the site is being viewed and used in 129 different countries, achieving my aim of making the material it hosts available in those places around the world where it would be otherwise impossible to obtain. I want to thank everyone who has contributed material, those who have linked to the site and those of you who have offered encouragement and constructive criticism. These have all been greatly appreciated.
